Templates
Reusable email, SMS and LinkedIn copy for campaigns and sequences.
Templates are reusable email, SMS and LinkedIn copy for your campaigns and sequences. Write something once, use it everywhere, and change it in one place.

1. Getting to the page
Click Templates in the Marketing section, at /client/templates. The header reads "Reusable email, SMS and LinkedIn copy for your campaigns and sequences."
Templates sit a tier below campaigns on purpose. A Launch account can build a library but cannot bulk-send from it, so when the upgrade prompt appears you already have content waiting for it.
2. Creating a template
New template takes:
- A name — how you'll find it.
- A channel — email, SMS or LinkedIn.
- A subject — for email.
- A body — the copy, with variables.
3. Channels
| Channel | Notes |
|---|---|
| Subject and rich-text body. Used by campaigns, sequences, stage emails and inbox replies. | |
| SMS | Plain text, kept short. Needs an SMS-capable sending number to actually send. |
| Connection notes and messages. LinkedIn has no send API, so these are written for you to paste. |
4. Variables
Insert {{variables}} that resolve per recipient at send time — first name, company, the deal, the owner, and other fields on the record.
An unresolved variable is caught before the send rather than going out as literal {{first_name}}.
Always preview against a real record. A template that reads perfectly with a full record can read badly against a sparse one; write a fallback into the sentence rather than relying on the field being there.
5. Where templates are used
- Campaigns — one-off sends.
- Sequences — each step can reference a template.
- Stage emails — sent when a deal reaches a pipeline stage.
- Inbox — inserted into a reply.
6. Editing a live template
Editing a template changes what future sends use. It does not retroactively change mail already sent, and it does not change a campaign that is mid-send.
A sequence referencing a template picks up the change for steps that have not yet run.
7. Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The page shows an upgrade screen | Templates need Launch or above | See Plans & Subscriptions |
| A variable came out literal | The field is empty on that record | Give the variable a fallback, or fill the field |
| SMS template won't send | No SMS-capable number configured | The step says so rather than failing silently |
| I edited a template but the campaign sent the old copy | The campaign was already in flight | Edits apply to sends that have not started |
